Got this as an extra touchstone charging base. I was worried I misinterpreted the description but it came as I expected. Touchstone base, US AC charger and USB cable. The charger is smaller than my other two Palm chargers that came with my Pres, so I’m not sure if it’s a knock-off or a redesigned OEM, but it works great. edit: I got this for under twenty-three bucks shipped, looks like the price has jumped up

I bought two of these, thinking they would be new and in perfect shape. There was nothing in the description to indicate that they weren’t new and one of the reviewers even indicated that they came in the original box. However, they are not new; the touchstones have dings and scratches, and are obviously either used or seconds or something, but not new. They came with no instructions, no packaging, loose in an unpadded envelope and days late. The days late is probably because of the incompetence of the USPS. One cord appears to be new; the other, I’m not so sure. The good news is, they seem to work just fine.

After checking around various websites and stores, I found this was the best deal I could get for a touchstone. At the Sprint stores these currently sell for about $70. Online they range from $30 – $40 just for the dock. Then you have to buy the touchstone cover for your phone, which is $20.

It came in the Palm packaging, which let me know it wasn’t some illegitimate product someone made and slapped on the Palm name. Upon opening the box, I felt misled. If you look at pictures online you may notice the dock stands alone with the phone on it, seemingly charging. That’s not how it works. The regular charger cords are necessary to make it work. I thought when the websites stated it charges wirelessly they meant completely wirelessly. I read a little about it on the [...] website:

“The Touchstone charger utilizes magnetic inductance, or electric current produced through a loop of wire in the presence of a magnetic field, to charge its internal battery wirelessly.”

I mistakenly understood this to mean I could charge most anywhere without having to plug anything in.

Though I was disappointed, it’s a convenient device, and I like it.
